Ulefone Mobile launched their first Armor smartphone in their rugged smartphone series in November 2016. The phone was received quite well and it brought something that we don’t see in smartphones i.e. the ruggedness and strength. Ulefone has now announced that they will be launching the next version of the Ulefone Armor smartphone at the MWC 2017 in Barcelona.

Ulefone Armor 2

The Ulefone Armor 2 will be powered by a powerful MediaTek Helio P25 octa-core chipset clocked at 2.5 GHz, paired with 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM. That’s a significant upgrade over the original Armor, which featured the MediaTek MT6753 octa-core chipset, paired with 3GB of RAM. The Helio P25 chipset was in fact released only a few days back, and Ulefone claims the Armor 2 will “definitely” be the first smartphone to be powered by the new chip. There is no word on the display size, but we don’t expect to see a phablet-sized display on the Armor 2, as the original Armor only features a 4.7-inch display.

As far as a Ulefone Armor 2 release date is concerned the details are rather vague. The company merely says that it will release the device some time this year.
